Town through the Trees

Large and expressive Swedish landscape of a Southern Spanish town. The artist has curiously chosen the tree to foreground the piece, with the white settlements visible through its branches. Two figures are standing on the bottom left-hand corner of the composition to give a sense of scale.

Signed Bertil Wahlberg (1923-1980), a Swedish artist known for landscape paintings of his travels throughout Europe, recording his visit to places such as France and Italy. 

Oil on canvas in a substantial gilt frame.
