Mediterranean Beach with Boats

Large painting of a village by the sea with boats drawn up on the sand. The mountains and terraced hills tower in the background under an azur sky. The palette is clear and vibrant and the artist has created a wonderful sense of depth with the terraced hillside in the background and the sandy beach and clear blue sea sweeping through the painting.  It's a lovely bright painting reminiscent of hot summer holidays! 

Unsigned attributed to Bertil Gunnar Wahlberg 1923-1980 (see verso of painting). Wahlberg was a painter, cartoonist and graphic artist. He travelled widely in Europe following WW2. He is known for his landscapes, although he painted a large mural in a car dealership in Stockholm in 1966. He is held in several museums in Sweden
