Picture Hanging Masterclass

Hanging art can feel daunting. What looks good where? How high do I hang? Have I got the right tools?  Collins & Green Art have teamed up with Art & People to demystify the whole process, making it fun and easy.

The session, on 25th April, will begin with tea, coffee and a tour of Julia Collins’ home - full of exciting examples of how to live at home with art. Once you’re inspired, Art & People founder, Claudia Kennaugh, will walk you through the fundamentals of picture hanging: identifying your style, learning core arrangements, considering the room for practicalities and mood, refreshing your collection and how to tackle big blank walls. At this point, you’ll be asked questions specific to your own project for feedback and curatorial guidance.

You’ll then watch a demonstration on how to hang a picture in 4 steps - complete with DIY advice and tricks of the trade. To bring it all together, we will close with an interactive session on designing and hanging a gallery wall, where you can get involved and have a go!

The workshop is open to collectors and trade alike, with any level of experience.

Includes coffee / tea / cake and a handout.

What to bring: Notepad and pen, photos of your home or project.

Ticket price: £75 per person

Earlybird discount code: EARLY10 - valid for 10 days until 12.03.23

Claudia Kennaugh is the founder of Art & People, a Bristol based art advisory offering guidance to artists and collectors. Prior to launching in 2019, Claudia worked in the arts for 15 years. First as a songwriter and performing artist and then art advisor and gallery partner. Over her years co-running the Hollywood Road Gallery, London – established by her family in 1980 – she curated countless fairs and exhibitions with hand-sourced artworks from the UK, Europe & South America. During this time, she nurtured the careers of many artists and helped the gallery collectors to find, frame and hang art in their homes. Today, Art & People supports the professional development of early-mid career artists with 121 coaching, workshops and tutorials. Claudia’s curating work continues in commercial exhibitions and homes. Her curatorial eye is eagerly sought after and in 2022 she was on the judging panel of Jackson’s Painting Prize. Keen to make art advice accessible, Art & People is launching a workshop and talk series for collectors, giving people tools to become their own curator.
