Seals

We have two of these charming French bookplates from the well known and influential French children's books by Le Père Castor. they would be perfect in a child's room or a bathroom. (They are available separately or as a pair.)

They are taken from a series of  children's books initially published in the 1930's by Paul Faucher and his Czech wife Lida Durdikova.  The illustrations are by Natalie Chelpanova who had moved to Paris having married a French diplomat. She collaborated with another Russian, Feodor Rojnakovsky to create wonderful illustrations to the series, often using 6 or 7 plates to create the very clear and bright illustrations which were key to the success of the series.
